to simplify the prep i’ve substituted the white grapefruit with Texas Ruby Red, eliminated the soda and lime, and doubled the amount of tequila. ole!

Fresca and tequila is a lovely combo. Don’t knock ‘til you’ve tried it.

According to Wikipedia, a highball glass has a volume of 8 to 12 US fl oz, while a pint glass holds 16 US fl oz. The liquid ingredients here only amount to 7 fl oz, so there should be plenty of space left in all but the smallest highball glass. All I can guess is that you're using ice made in very small cubes, so it fills more of the glass than it should.

When this is made with grapefruit soda and mescal, it is called a palumbo and it is delicious.

Absolutely delicious and stimulating.

2oz tequila, 3oz grapefruits juice, fill remainder of ice-filled glass with lime seltzer and a wedge of lime. Helloooo, Summer!
