Tequila Shots With Sangrita Chasers

Ingredients
- 2cups freshly squeezed orange juice
- ¾cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- ¼cup grenadine syrup (use one with real pomegranate, like Employees Only or Fee Brothers)
- 2teaspoons ancho chile powder
- 6dashes Tabasco, or to taste
- ½teaspoon salt
- Reposado tequila (use about 1½ ounces per shot)
Preparation
- Step 1
To make sangrita, mix all ingredients except tequila in a pitcher and chill well.
- Step 2
Shake tequila with ice; strain into shot glasses. Serve sangrita in small glasses to chase tequila shots.

We added clamato and Worchestershire sauce for depth. Yummy!
In Mexico - this drink is 2/3rds of something called Bandaras. The 3rd glass is pure lime juice (the glasses, in total, represent the colors of the Mexico flag, hence Bandaras). Lay out 3 small (or shot-glasses) Fill each with the appropriate content. Then, you sip the tequila, followed by the sangrita, followed by the lime juice. It leaves a bit of a tingle and begins a long relationship with a wonderful cocktail process.

Nice! Added a healthy squeeze of simple syrup; leaves a (IMHO) slightly more complex taste in mouth.
