Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Using a paring knife, cut off and discard tough bottoms of broccoli stalks. Cut broccoli into florets.

  2. Step 2

    Place broccoli in a steamer for 3 to 4 minutes. Do not overcook.

  3. Step 3

    Heat oil in a skillet, add garlic, broccoli and salt and pepper to taste. Saute briefly, being careful not to burn garlic. Serve immediately.

So classic, so simple. I make this recipe as written and turns out perfect every time! Personally, I steam my broccoli a little more because I prefer a softer broccoli when steamed.

Delicious and easy way to cook broccoli. My husband likes his not overcooked but not more lightly steamed either so I needed to steam for a couple more minutes. Next time I would put the stems in first and maybe 3 minutes later add the florets.
