Decrease sugar Increase vinegar

A teaspoon of sugar is plenty. Out of garlic? Use half a shallot.

Used seasoned rice wine vinegar, half the sugar, and let them marinate all day in the refrigerator, really enjoyed them…

I made this with bite-sized cucumbers. I took the advice of cutting the sugar and adding more vinegar. I also added some kosher salt. Yum! They only lasted a day. They tasted just like deli garlic pickles.
