  1. Step 1

    Place chocolate and cream in a small microwave-safe bowl or pitcher. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir, return to the microwave and continue to cook in 10-second intervals until the chocolate is melted. Stir in the liqueur and serve, warm or at room temperature.

The plastic wrap cover created moisture in the sauce and caused the chocolate to coagulate. Perhaps I let the mixture get too hot in the microwave, but I did less time than recommended here and I was watching it closely. Turned out better on the stove top by simmering milk, adding chocolate, remove from heat and stir continuously.

I added a half tsp espresso powder, used 1 tbl. Rum and 1 tbl. Kahlua, substituted 1/2 & 1/2 for cream. Easy and delicious on coffee almond fudge ice cream! Or vanilla!

Substitute cream with Soyamilk and a bit of xantan gum for a creamy or mousse like sauce.
