I like any recipe that tells me “don’t worry” twice.
I added a tsp of orange zest, a tbsp of orange juice, and a splash of orange liqueur. Yum!
Starting with the simple syrup seems unnecessary. Recipe on the back of the cranberry bag is very simple and comes out just as good. Main thing is to add sweetness to a sour fruit and get the cranberries to burst then cook down to release their natural pectin that thickens the sauce.
Do not get confused by the editing errors which duplicated a few things: Step 4 repeated as Step 5 Ingredients listed twice: do not need the second batch of water, sugar, And cranberries This is the classic cranberry sauce recipe: just sugar, water, and cranberries. Why buy canned when home-made is so simple and delicious? I like the version which includes orange peel and juice, but other members of my household not so much. Might have to make 2 separate batches.
