Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Cut the pears in half, core them and place them in a shallow baking dish, slightly overlapping if necessary. Squeeze with lemon juice and add water to come halfway up the pears. Sprinkle with sugar and bake until the pears are soft and the water and sugar have reduced to a golden glaze (one to one-and-a-half hours). Serve hot or at room temperature.

Tip
  • This is good with whipped cream or creme fraiche.

So easy and delicious. However, I did not get a good glaze in that amount of time, and the pears were soft, so I put the sugar/lemon/water in a saucepan, and reduced it to caramel sauce and poured it over the pears. I topped it with glazed walnuts and whipped cream, and it got rave reviews.
