Ingredients
Yield:About 1½ cups
- 1tablespoon bacon fat or vegetable oil
- 1large yellow onion, peeled and cut into ¼-inch dice
- 1cup ketchup
- ¼cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1tablespoon malt vinegar
- 2tablespoons molasses
- 2teaspoons Creole mustard
- 1teaspoon hot red pepper sauce
- ½teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
- 1teaspoon fresh lemon juice, plus more to taste
Preparation
- Step 1
Heat the fat or oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Simmer for 15 minutes. Keep warm until ready to serve.
