Ingredients

Yield:1 drink
  • Scant teaspoon simple syrup
  • ounces gin
  • ½ounce fresh lemon juice
  • Chilled ginger beer, to top
  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Fill a highball glass with ice. Add simple syrup, gin and lemon juice, then top with ginger beer. Stir gently. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Yes, but it won't taste as good. Ginger ale typically doesn't have the bite that ginger beer does.

As a Dark and Stormy lover (Gossling's Rum, Lime Juice, and Ginger Beer) I have recently fallen in love with what I refer to as a Light and Stormy: 1 1/2 ozs of Franks Organic Apple Ginger Vodka, 1/2 oz lime juice in a tall glass with ice topped up with ginger beer. Delicious and refreshing
