Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Using an electric mixer or food processor, cream cheese and butter until thoroughly mixed. Add flour and cayenne and mix thoroughly. Shape into rolls 1 inch in diameter. Wrap in wax paper or plastic wrap and chill at least one hour or overnight, or wrap in aluminum foil and freeze.

  2. Step 2

    To serve, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Let frozen rolls defrost in refrigerator for at least a couple of hours or overnight. Cut thawed or chilled rolls into slices â…“ inch thick and place on ungreased cookie sheets one inch apart. Bake about 10 minutes, until light brown on bottoms.

No cream cheese in the recipe, the first instruction is to cream the cheese and butter together.

What is missing is that the cheese has to be grated?

I tasted the batter and it is delicious! Then I added tiny bits of fresh rosemary to the other half of the dough for more interest. They are chilling now. Will bake them before taking them to a party later!

These go fast. Also make a great gift for friend's Christmas. I give the chilled log to them to cut and cook for holiday guests. Nobody doesn't love these.
