Preparation

  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. Combine the sugar, ¼ cup butter, liqueur, nuts and eggs in a large mixing bowl. Add the flour mixture and beat until smooth. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush lightly with the remaining butter. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle the ¼ cup of flour on a flat surface. Knead the dough for 5 minutes. Shape the dough into 2 6-by-2½-inch logs. Place on the baking sheet. Bake until golden, about 25 minutes. Cool on a rack.

  3. Step 3

Cut the loaf crosswise into 1-inch slices. Place the slices, cut side up, on the baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Turn once after 10 minutes. Cool and store in a airtight container.

Love this simple recipe. I add dried cherries and chocolate chips too.

I've tried many recipes, and this is the best. It has no vanilla, so the cookie isn't sweet. Try adding chia or flax seeds for more fiber.
