Sother Teague, of the Amaro-centric New York City bar Amor y Amargo, devised this riff on the classic cocktail, the Last Word. Teague uses Old Tom gin (a style of the spirit that’s sweeter than London dry gin), and amaro Montenegro, with its pronounced notes of orange, replaces the fresh lime juice in the original. If you haven’t made cocktails with amaro before, this is a good place to start: elegant, straightforward and easy to make.

Too sweet for taste, so instead I poured it over ice and topped with soda water.

Wow…what a sublime drink. This will be our new go to. Perfect cocktail for my wife and I with so many complex flavors to deeply contemplate while getting thoroughly trashed.

Great cocktail...just great! It is sweet, but the combination of flavors is fantastic. Caution. It should be called a Pulverizer, because it will put you on the floor.

Quite good. Used green chartreuse. Agree with others, it was pretty strong! I added some ice and lemon juice.

Delicious! Another great equal parts drink! Used green chartreuse but will try with yellow chartreuse next time to compare. Also, we don't (yet) have lime bitters so substituted grapefruit bitters.
