At 90, I'm entitled to comment on what makes a good martini. Start with gin. Gilbeys. Gordon's -- just gin. Mix it in a bottle with dry vermouth and let it chill in the fridge. When ready, fill an old fashioned glass to the brim with crushed ice. Shake the bottle of gin-vermlouth mix VERY vigorously, just the way James Bond told us to, and pour over the ice. Add a couple of olives & a tablespoon of olive juice. Why "shaken, not stirred?" It aerates the gin & vermouth and releases the flavors.
or try it and if you like it just do that
Less dilution.
It's my go to summer cocktail. Nothing is worse than an ice cold Martini that goes limp in minutes on a hot summer evening. A splash of lemon bitters is a nice touch, too.
I just tried this. It’s a nice refreshing drink for a hot day.]
I like my cocktails to stay cold. I don't let them sit for too long, so I don't worry about it getting watered down...
