Yield:4 servings
  • 1muskmelon (honeydew or cantaloupe), rind and seeds removed
  • 8six-inch skewers
  • 1tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1jalapeño, finely diced (seeds removed)
  • ½ lime

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Cut the melon into 1-inch cubes.Skewer the melon pieces (about four pieces for each skewer), and place them on a serving plate.

  2. Step 2

    Place the salt and red chili flakes in a coffee or spice grinder and pulse until finely ground. Sprinkle about a teaspoon of the salt/chili mixture over the melons, followed by the diced jalapeño.

  3. Step 3

    Squeeze the lime over the melons, and serve.

Mexican street food. You can also use cucumbet, mango and jicama. Use Tajin seasoning if you can find it.

Be extremely careful when you open the grinder after grinding the salt and chili flakes! I just inhaled a cloud of chili flake dust!
